Was it worth it?

So was this mom of four very active children foolish enough to stay up and watch the two American women win in the gymnastics all-around last night? Yep, she was and she is so paying for it today. Was it worth it, you may ask? Depends on when you ask the question--this morning at 12:30 it was definitely worth it. Tonight at 6pm probably not so much.

the ultimate family entertainment

This has been the scene at our house every night for the last week. It is to enjoy the ultimate family entertainment--the olympics! This has been the best one yet because especially the girls are old enough to understand what is going on. They've been learning all the rules to the sports. I think the boys just like the popcorn. It has been a great way to chill out the week before school starts.

Face Painters

We wrapped up VBS last week with a carnival. Lots of fun! Probably the coolest thing at the carnival were our face painters. It is a married couple from our church--he is an art teacher and she also has an art degree. They did an awesome job!

Joe & I had a great time on Sunday night and Monday. We did two of our favorite things--sleep and hike in God incredible nature.

The mighty hunters

The boys found their laser guns in the toy chest the other day and decided to go out on a hunting expedition. John even brought his retrieval dog along.

"I think we killed it. The ant is dead"

It was a good day.

I've felt like I've been aging all year. Not old--I know I'm not old yet and I honestly don't think I'll ever feel "old". But I've just felt myself aging--gray hair (I found one on my arm two days ago), wrinkles, aches I've never had before. You get the idea. Today I realized it was all in my head. I was at a function without my kids this morning and met a couple for the first time. He asked me "So do you have any children yet?" Yes!!!! I must look at least somewhat newly married! And it was even more gratifying watching their eyes pop when I proudly announced that yes, indeed, I do have children--4 actually. It was a good day.
